ABOUT THE FILM
1984 is a period short film set in the midst of the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots. Bhupinder, his wife Renu and their two sons, Bhawsheel and Maninder find themselves caught in discrimination. As their ordinary life is jeopardised, the family becomes a reflection of a society trying to make sense of its circumstances.
A dream project, the film is a response to the chaos caused and the consequences hence, and aims at understanding the non-fictional world with a fictional take.
1984 is the cumulative effort of her innate desire to tell a story that is a response to a historic event and in her attempt to make film goers remember and perhaps, introspect. Her Punjabi heart always hovering in nostalgia of days in Chandigarh and the shades of an unfurled activist bring her to make this film.
Garima Pura is a final year student at the Symbiosis Center for Media and Communication, specializing in Film & Television. An extrovert always on the lookout for platforms to express herself, Garima is a writer, spoken word performer and thespian. An awardee of the '25 Under 25' Change makers in India Contest, she hopes to express herself through the medium of film.
She has worked as an Assistant Director in films during her time as an intern at Black Ticket Films and Terrible Tiny Talkies, an Art Director on an adaptation of Astrologer's Day, directed an ad film for Nike, Vodafone, as well as directed a short sci-fi film.

WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE
BUDGET
WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE
We are independent cinema. Help us make sure that our future remembers our past.

While the entire cast and crew are committed to this project, we are short on funds. This is independent cinema, and we don’t expect a big budget, but without your donation it would be impossible to do justice to our subject. 1984: The Film is a period drama. All the camera, lighting and sound gear, set design, costume that we need to make the story believable and relatable will cost an amount that our student budgets cannot afford. While all cast members have agreed to work without pay, we need to arrange for their travel and accommodation. Above all, we want to give this film a shot at being better than what it is now by giving it all the resources we can gather.
Whatever donation you can make will go towards making this film a success.
WHO WE ARE
